Match Analysis Signs with 13 of 14 MLS Clubs
Tuesday, April 15, 2008EMERYVILLE, California - Match Analysis announced today that 13 of the 14 Major League Soccer clubs have signed extensions to their existing agreements to receive Match Analysis's state-of-the-art video and statistical analysis services for the 2008 MLS Season. "We are honored and humbled by the clubs' nearly unanimous decision to work with Match Analysis," stated Match Analysis president Mark Brunkhart. "This is an extremely competitive marketplace, and to earn the business of such an overwhelming number of clubs gives us great pride in the quality of our service." Match Analysis's role as market-leader reflects a broader movement in soccer favoring a focus on communication between coach and player. "We feel our competitors have gotten it wrong in this area. The problem professional coaches face worldwide is rarely their understanding of the game. The problem is getting players to do things they don't want to do." "Heaping additional analytical data on the coach is a fantastic misunderstanding of the day-to-day challenges coaches face. It is the outsider's solution to an imagined problem. Six-figure military-style tracking systems are nice window-dressing, but they have little impact on what occurs on the field." "At the end of the day, the coach sits on the bench. The players win and lose matches. Our focus is on widening the communication pipeline between the coaching staff and the team. This focus is one that our clients have demonstrated a strong commitment to because it's an approach that has proven consistently wins championships." Match Analysis delivers high-tech video and statistical analysis tools to top clubs and leagues throughout the world. Match Analysis was contracted to provide scouting support for two teams at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Its clients have won sixteen national titles including eleven of the last twelve national championships in the United States, four NCAA championships, and one championship in Mexico. Sales and media inquiries should be directed to Match Analysis's Emeryville, California office.
